Knepper Selected 2021 AWWA Michigan Young Professional of the Year
Susan Knepper, an environmental engineer in OHM Advisors’ Environmental & Water Resources group, has been named the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association (MI-AWWA). The annual award recognizes the contributions of young members whose service and achievements are exceptional for their years of experience.
An invaluable member of the firm’s EWRG team, Knepper is a sophisticated technical engineer with deep experience in and knowledge of hydraulic water modeling and a multitude of modeling software platforms, as well as the creation of facility operational efficiencies. Her primary role is as the operational and technical engineer for the North Oakland County Water Authority (NOCWA), which involves ongoing analysis of the demands and operations of the four NOCWA community member facilities and creating emergency planning recommendations and solutions with the use of hydraulic modeling.
Knepper is passionate about improving water system operations and dedicated to bringing knowledge of how to do that to other engineers inside OHM Advisors and the greater water engineering profession. She is a Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) Analytical Work Group participant and current Chair of MI-AWWA’s Abstracts Committee. Her recent professional presentations as part of MI-AWWA include “Conquering Drinking Water Concerns: The Past and Present”, and “Navigating the Waters in a Pandemic” in which she engaged a finance consultant to help advise the organization’s members on COVID's impacts to the water industry.
