Modern Workspaces Enhance Corporate Culture, Attract a New Generation of Workers
OHM Advisors completed the facility site assessment and master plan for the global healthcare conglomerate’s 30-acre corporate campus in Dublin, Ohio years ago—and even back then, we were thinking about future expansion. When the company decided to add on, it already had a footprint allotted for a new $50 million, 250,000 sf office building. Once again it looked to us, challenging our architecture group to design a building that looks original, yet offers a modern work environment that engages employees and compels them to give 110% every day.
The new, LEED-certified building seamlessly integrates with the existing Cardinal Health campus, while design modifications to the exterior simplified construction, reduced costs, and minimized the building’s scale. The interior showcases a progressive workplace with informal meeting areas and non-traditional workspaces, small huddle areas, and integrated technology to encourage collaboration and create connectedness within the larger space. Convenience and lifestyle options—including a cafeteria, fitness facility, coffee shop, pharmacy, and credit union—further strengthen Cardinal Health’s commitment to employee well-being. The design implemented green building materials and maximized energy performance, and incorporated low impact stormwater management practices and walking paths to encourage alternative transportation. The innovative, environmentally-friendly result blends in while standing out.
Our team has since continued to help the company define its leading-edge workspace by reimagining the east lobby on the original campus, designing a new 5,744 sf addition for a Client Experience Center to welcome visitors, and creating a phase plan for the complete renovation and repositioning of the entire east campus to improve the workplace environment and employee engagement.
