Located at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, the Four-Seasons space is a unique, central campus flex space designed by a multidiscipline team at OHM Advisors which offers students, alumni and visitors opportunities for year-round gathering and enjoyment. The radial park design centers around the “Lincoln on the Prairie” statue and flows outward forming a plaza space with concrete seat walls, planting beds, and outdoor fire pit, a 50-foot lineal fountain, and adjacent lawn areas with potential for flexible uses and activities. A multiuse enclosed pavilion structure with an indoor fireplace overlooks the plaza with uninterrupted sight lines to the statue. The project also includes a 60,000-cubic-feet underground stormwater management system beneath the Four-Seasons space to help alleviate flooding in an 8-acre drainage area from both river swelling and large rain events occurring more frequently in the University’s recent history.
